Day 58 and 59 - BarnGirl's Hadrian's Wall

And so.....it begins. The Retaining Wall. After discovering the existing wall was only half a brick thick in some places, which resulted in having to remove ALL of it, the resurrection finally starts.

Hatted Smiley Matt and Tim moved pallet loads of very heavy, solid concrete blocks along the length of my indoor cricket wicket, for easy access to the blocks, as they tackled the first row of concrete blockwork, behind the upright steel. The second row will go in front and up to the supporting beam running from the East to West elevation.

But where is Luke, Mr Brick?  Poor Luke, fell off a chimney or a chimney fell on him. Either way, he is, unfortunately, out of action for six weeks. So, the BarnBoys stepped up, dusted off their bricky skills and started to build m'wall.  Digger Ryan is loaning us Ian, his ace brick n' block layer, for the remainder of the block work.  Get well soon, Luke. In future, leave it to Father Christmas to hang around chimneys!

Matt and Tim make a start on the retaining wall

Another layer up

The metal tag thingys poking through the wall will go into the front layer of concrete blocks for added support

The gap will be infilled with concrete

Another day, another hat Matt, as he goes on 'donging' duty.
Boss Jon, you' d better move or you'll be incarcerated

End walls painted with Bituthene primer and then covered with self-adhesive Bituthene 8000.

Gotta dash.
